What is the FEAT Project

The Fair Enterprise and Trade (FEAT) Project aims to:

  1. use the 2012 Olympic Games to inspire Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) women to think about starting a business.
  2. Support local business women to benefit from 2012 opportunities.
  3. Build consortiums of women sole traders and businesses in the
    a) building and light construction,
    b) tourism and hospitality, and
    c) sport and lesiure sectors.

Who Are FEAT?

FEAT is a partnership of four women’s voluntary organisations: Urban Inclusion Community, Account 3, the Women’s Resource Centre and Prowess.

The FEAT project is part of the London Development Agency’s Opportunities Fund Programme and works across the five Olympic host boroughs (Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Greenwich and Waltham Forest). The project is also a partner within The Partnership for Cultural Business Investment Programme which is part financed by The European Union under the European Regional Development Fund Structural Programme.The CBI Programme is managed by Islington Training Network.

Register for our new Hospitality and Tourism network:

Signature Gold is a brand established by Urban Inclusion Community as a result

of lengthy consultation and networking with it’s Fair Enterprise and Trade (FEAT)

project membership. The aim of FEAT is to inspire women to develop and grow

businesses that can benefit from the 2012 Olympics and beyond. The FEAT

project set-up three sector networks which includes Building and Construction,

Sports and Leisure and Hospitality and Tourism. The FEAT networks database

has over 1,000 women’s businesses on it who have attended events over the last

two years.

Signature Gold  is a new brand that has evolved out of the FEAT hospitality and

aims to become a one stop shop for culturally specific Events and Hospitability

Services in London.

The aim of Signature Gold is to:

  • Bring something new and exciting to the London event planning scene.
  • Focus on London’s unique diversity where this network will bring an expertise in developing, designing and managing quality driver bespoke events, entertainment and hospitality packages that draw on the cultural mix of the capital.
  • Provide a marketing and management solution, for Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic women’s businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector, through the development of partnerships, joint ventures and consortiums.

Hospitality and Tourism Network:

There are nearly 100 businesses on the FEAT Hospitality network and they will be

given the opportunity to become part of the Signature Gold group along with other

women’s businesses that

  • have been trading for more than 2 years
  • have a turnover of £50k +

Through our Cultural Business Investment Programme, which is part funded

by ERDF Urban Inclusion Community will provide specialist business support to

enable these women’s businesses to develop and grow their business through

2012 and public sector procurement opportunities.

Quality is at the heart of Signature Gold so businesses that want to become

Signature Gold members have to go through an accreditation process which

Involves: - _

·          Completing a Urban Inclusion Community PQQ

·          An assessment of eligibility

·          A business diagnostic

·          A capacity building and training plan

·          Training development and support through specialist workshops and referrals to mainstream agencies such as Business Link: www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/home;
